Mozaik collects nothing. There are no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. Your photos and your secret messages are processed entirely on your device and never sent to us — we have no way to see them, and nothing to store, share, or sell.
Mozaik does not collect, transmit, or retain any personal data. We hold no database about you because there is nothing sent to hold. On the App Store, our privacy label is “Data Not Collected.”
Mozaik uses your photos in two ways, both local. When you choose a picture, you pick it through Apple’s system photo picker — the app only ever receives the single image you select, never your library. When you save a solved picture or a postcard, Mozaik writes it back to your Photos with your permission. Images are shredded, sealed, and reassembled entirely on your device; they are never uploaded.
The secret message inside a mozaik is encrypted on your device with AES-256, using a key derived from the solved picture and, if you set one, your passphrase. We operate no server and receive no copy, so we cannot read your messages under any circumstance. When you share a mozaik file, it travels directly from you to whoever you send it to (AirDrop, Messages, email, a file). We are not a party to that exchange.
It’s worth understanding what a mozaik is, though. The file you send contains the picture, because the person solving it needs something to work towards. Without a passphrase, anyone holding the file can reassemble that picture and read the message — that’s the game, not a flaw. If you want a message only one person can open, set a passphrase and give it to them another way. It is never stored in the file, and it cannot be recovered.
Mozaik is free. An optional one-time purchase, Mozaik Premium, unlocks larger grids and a few extra tools. That transaction is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see your payment details or your Apple Account. The app only learns, on your own device, that the entitlement exists so it can unlock those features. Solving a mozaik is always free.
Because Mozaik collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children. There is no profile, no messaging with strangers, and no content served from outside the app.
Mozaik integrates no advertising networks, analytics providers, crash reporters, or trackers of any kind. The only external party involved is Apple, and only for the optional purchase described above and for the standard operating-system services (the photo picker, saving to Photos) that you invoke yourself.
If Mozaik ever changes what it does with data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above before the change ships. Since the app is built to keep everything on your device, we do not expect that to change.
