Typewright collects nothing. It does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. What you write belongs to you, stays with you, and never passes through us — there is no server of ours to pass through. This applies to Typewright on every platform: iPhone, iPad, and Android.
Documents you write and the preferences you set — machine, paper, font, ink — are stored on your device. Nothing about you or your writing is sent to us. On the App Store, our privacy label is “Data Not Collected;” on Google Play, our Data safety section says the same: no data collected, no data shared.
If you turn on iCloud sync in Settings, your documents are mirrored to your own private iCloud database so they appear on your other Apple devices. This uses Apple’s CloudKit. The developer cannot read that data — it lives in your iCloud, under your Apple Account, in a private database no one else can query. iCloud sync stays off unless you turn it on.
If you turn on Google Drive sync in Settings, your documents are mirrored to a hidden application folder in your own Google Drive so they appear on your other Android devices. You approve this once through Google’s standard consent screen, and the app receives access only to that folder — it cannot see the rest of your Drive, and the developer cannot see the folder at all. It lives under your Google Account, and only Typewright on your devices can read it.
You stay in control: sync stays off unless you turn it on, and you can withdraw access at any time in your Google Account’s third-party connections or delete the stored data under Google Drive’s settings (Manage apps → Typewright → Delete hidden app data).
Typewright’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements: Drive access is used solely to store and retrieve your own documents for sync, and for nothing else.
Separately, Android’s standard device backup (Google Auto Backup) may include Typewright’s local data in the encrypted device backup kept under your own Google Account, like it does for other apps on your phone. That is a feature of Android you control in your device settings, and we have no access to it.
Typewright contains no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party tracking SDKs. It does not create an account, and it does not request your contacts, location, camera, microphone, or photo library. There is no web view and no outbound link inside the app.
Typewright is free with one optional one-time purchase, the Decades Collection, which unlocks three additional machines. The transaction is processed entirely by the store you bought it in — Apple’s App Store on iPhone and iPad, Google Play on Android. We never receive your payment details. The app only learns, on your own device, that the purchase exists so it can unlock the machines. Restore is available any time.
PDFs, text files and backup files are created only when you ask for them, and go wherever you choose to send them through your device’s share sheet — on Android, exported PDFs are also saved to your Downloads folder. We are not a party to that exchange and receive no copy.
Typewright is rated for all ages (4+ on the App Store, Everyone on Google Play) and collects no data from anyone, including children. There are no accounts, no messaging, and no content served from outside the app.
If Typewright ever changes what it does with data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above before the change ships. Since the app is built to keep everything on your device, we do not expect that to change.
